In celebration of my birthday earlier (April 8 that is) I had dinner with Mom and my sister at Bubba Gump. Out of the blue, I just thought of watching a movie and the first that film that came to my mind was Ice Age simply because I would want to watch an entertaining film. Read more of my review.
Ice Age: The Meltdown is the sequel from the 2002 blockbuster hit production of Blue Sky Studios and released by 20th Century Fox. As the title implies, ice is melting as Fast Tony was spreading the news to sell the improvised equipment for snorkeling. At first, Manny and Diego did not believe it until they saw that the dam is indeed melting when they tried to stop Sid from jumping down from the dam. They warned the others and so, Lone Gunslinger Vulture told them that in 3 days time, they should reach the end of the valley so that they could board on a “boat” that would save them. In short, it was a Noah’s Ark like of a story injected with a love story where Manny met a mammoth (Ellie) who thinks that she’s a possum and believes that Crash and Eddie (the real possums) are her brothers. It was the usual happy ending story where Diego has conquered his fear of swimming, Manny saved Ellie when she was trapped in the cave, and they all lived happily ever after. Scrat was even saved when Sid performed a CPR on him. He had his NDE (near death experience) where he went inside the gates of heaven with all the acorns surrounding him. Even though it’s the usual kiddie stuff plot, it’s entertaining nevertheless especially when Sid was kidnapped by the sloths of a smaller kind. He was even referred to as the Fire King and they were supposed to offer him as a sacrifice to save them from the flood. Aside from that, the animation is superb as usual.
They used CGI Studio for the 3D modeling, animation and rendering. CGI Studio is also developed by Blue Sky Studios.
