Ronco Beach is in Calatagan, Batangas and I would not forget this place not because of the place but because of being able to watch the sun as it rises which I was not able to do when I was in Puerto Galera simply because I was too lazy to get up.
We slept in the tent because there are no available rooms and I could say that it is worth the experience (even though this may have caused us not to sleep well) having able to watch the sun rise. It’s good that the hermit crabs were not able to get inside the tent though
.
During our stay in the resort we were able to meet and interact with the owner Willie del Rosario (uncle of Andrea del Rosario). We’ve had discussions relating to the evolution of technology and communication, and of course, some vintage stuff that I have not heard of. I could say that they are really nice and very accommodating.

What a beautiful photo! I wish I could watch more sunrise, but like you I can’t wake up early. I am now in my sunset years and so obviously, I love watching the beautiful sunsets. I am an artist too.
Ayos pala ‘yung lugar. Napaglumaan na lang talaga ng panahon ‘yung sunset/sunrise view sa Baywalk…
@Ebb Tide,
try watching one. you’ll see the rays of the sun.. very beautiful
@Jake The Miserable,
oo ayos talaga yun lugar. sunrise lang talaga ung makikita dun sa calatagan kasi sa ibang side ung sunset
Wonderful photo, i bet you really enjoyed much:)
@green
thanks

i miss this place. very memorable. and yes bait ng may-ari and family nya. haiii
Nice in photos but not in reality. I went there with my whole family and gosh we are very disappointed. Ang ganda kasi online sa mga nakita ko sa flickr photos pero iba pag andun ka na. Now I know why when I called it’s the only resort not fully booked yet. Maybe nice views but the beach water is very dirty and not even a white beach. And it’s the last resort of calatagan i think as in. You could see goose walking together and one reason why the beach is dirty. Takot pa naman ako sa ganso kasi nanghahabol. And I even didn’t try to swim there because my brother when he went to swim he saw a sea snakes so di nya na tinuloy pagswim. Di naman daw yun delikado kaya lang lalagnatin ka rin sa hapdi pag nakagat ka. My dad told me it’s because of the many dried seaweeds and mabato ay naku why ba di nila linisan palagi. Kakatakot naman lumangoy talaga promise! Well try nyo… to see is to believe di ba? Ang maganda lang dun buti na lang yung mini pier nila nagpictorial lang ako dun as in. But one thing I learned from this experience… don’t easily believe what the resort is showing online.
@amanda,
well there are a lot of places like that
pictures can be deceiving
we were supposed to go to the resort last weekend. the paid 50% downpayment more than a month ago because the owner insisted that since it’s summer time, the rooms were selling like hotcakes. two of us from the team talked to him, and on several ocassions he confirmed our reservations for 5 rooms. one of my teammates got to the resort ahead of the rest last saturday, and she was told that there were only two rooms booked instead of five, and with no justiable reason whatsoever for the screw-up. Furthermore, their contingency plan was to bring the team to a seedy resort instead. the owners have no credibility whatsoever, plus they would fail to mention that the road going to their place is steep and rocky. And this place is absolutely far. beware. yes, pictures can lie. and owners can be deceiving.
Ronco is really secluded and indeed very far. We just commuted so imagine the long hours we thrived. Well, it would’ve been ok if we had a grand time, but we didn’t. We got there around 5 or 6pm and when it was time for dinner, nagbrown-out. Since we commuted we asked the caretaker to cook for us (it was an option they offered), and she was not happy about it. She kept telling us that we should have brought food. Though the food was really tasty, she served it displeased and we somehow got annoyed. They don’t have nice service. =c Also, when we asked if we can have a tryc to drop us somewhere near the bus stations, they said, “dun n lng sa tricycle na nagdala sa inyo kahapon. matagal pa yung sa min.” They were thinking of their convenience obviously and not ours. We were customers for God’s sake.
The only thing good was that,it was just us and another family on the resort. That’s the only GOOD.
papunta pa lang kami dito, and after reading the reviews from you guys, I am so excited na makakita ng gansa at makipaghabulan sa kanila, tapos mag weeds lang ako habang pinapanood un sunrise, sana mag brown out!
well ok nmn ang ronco halos bago n lahat well i tell this to ms amanda talagang maarte ka lang un lang un, kng nandun nga kayo past few years baka dirty look and old pa yun but now halos bago n and my new swimming pool na..
i ms karla.. i would just like to know (and make it sure) if going to ronco worth it.. this is the first time that me and my gf r going to a beach on our own.. and were not really familiar with the place (calatagan, batangas) so there’s that doubt or fear na masyang lang pagpnta namin..
i hope u could guarantee me abt the good stuffs in ronco.. thank you so much…
hi renan,

i actually had fun at ronco since it was my first time to sleep in a tent at a beach hehe
if you like swimming a lot, if it’s low-tide there, you may not be able to enjoy it much since you have to walk far
i may to an extent believe that some time ago, ronco was a topnotch breath-taking resort. sadly, time DOES leap and what was once beautiful, became old danky memory of the past. i would have appreciated the resort despite of its current state (none of the scenes from the pictures online are what it seems. actually, it pretty damned well sucked the bejeezus out of us), but the uncouth manner and none existent customer service more than sealed in stone the future of this resort! it has been to out dismay a waste of time, effort and hard earned money! looks are deceiving, yes, but u may have been polite and honest enough mr. del rosario for the complete disclosure. we as consumers deserve it!
Hi Hero, it’s sad to learn from you that it looks very different from the last time I have been there.
