SEMCon 2007 Day 1

,

Even though I have some basic knowledge about search engine optimization, I felt that what I know about it is just shallow until the Day One of Search Engine Marketing Conference 2007 ended. I find Benj Arriola’s presentation (SEO for Megasites) interesting since it has bridged a gap between SEOs and Website Designers/Developers. It is indeed an eye-opening experience that web design and development with SEO in mind actually puts a lot of value. It is interesting to know how web designers/developers play an important role in the optimization of the website for search engines.

Well, that was just about on-page optimization and that is just the beginning. For a website to rank higher (or to become popular), quality inbound links are a factor that is being considered by major search engines. Cool. I’m learning geeky SEO stuff. 😀 Before, I was just thinking about the quantity of links and without minding the quality. For instance, before, I created a WordPress theme and uploaded it in the WordPress themes website. Of course, the theme that I created has a link pointing to my blog with my name as the anchor text. Even before day one of the conference, I knew that I was already doing linkbaiting. 😀

Anyway, I’ve also learned something about creating cost-effective ad campaigns online for Google AdWords and a whole bunch of stuff that was Greek to me. 😀
