A year into my fitness journey

This 2021 is the year that I got into a more sustainable diet. While last year is about starving myself through intermittent fasting, I am now eating three to five times a day. Iā€™m eating under a calorie deficit and I never thought that I can eat as much without worrying of having to gain weight.

At the start of 2021, I started doing workouts. I did daily 16-minute cross training workouts. I also jogged and did jump rope workouts as well. At the latter part of the year, I focused on doing strength training by lifting dumbbells as recommended by my brother-in-law/personal fitness trainer.

I am doing this not because I want to look better. I am doing this because I want to be healthy.

Apps and smart devices I used

1. Apps for Workout

I used Streaks Workout for cross training. For tracking my runs, I used Strava. For the jumprope workouts, I used Yaoyao. I like how the app is integrated well with Apple Watch. For the strength training, I used Dumbbells app.

2. Apps for Nutrition Monitoring

Initially I used MyFitnessPal. But after using LoseIt, I liked it better. It feels less clunky than the former. I also track the water that I drink and I use Waterlogged for that.

3. Smart gadgets for tracking other health indicators

For tracking sleep, I use a Xiaomi Smartband. For recording my weight, I have a smart scale that gets to track the muscle mass, body fat, body water and bone mass. Lastly, I use Apple Watch to track my resting energy, active energy, steps I make, etc.
