The 1st Elements National Songwriting Camp 2010

“The 1st Elements National Songwriting Camp 2010″ is a brainchild of 7101 Music Nation. This is a 5-day music camp that will be held on November 14-18, 2010 in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental. A total of 60 participants (20 from Luzon, 20 from Visayas, and 20 from Mindanao) will be chosen by a screening committee.

Aspiring participants needs to submit their online application at the website of 7101 Music Nation. The auditions will be handled by Ryan Cayabyan, one of the most respected composers here in the Philippines, and his team of songwriters. The application period is from July 20, 2010 to August 22, 2010. Only Filipino residents and citizens (18-35 yrs. old at the time of application) are qualified to join. One must submit an original composition (2 mins. max.) in English or any local dialect, and a video clip (2 mins. max.) of yourself performing the song. The final list of participants will be announced on September 22, 2010.

This songwriting camp is actually not just about songwriting. A participant of this music camp will get to know some history and the state of the music scene, basic music creation, business and legal side of music, music and technology, music and technology and a lot more. Speakers that will be mentoring the participants in the music camp are: Jonathan Manalo, Jim Paredes, Ricky Ilacad, Dean Raul Sunico, Louie Ocampo, Jay Durias, Gabby Alipe, Joey Benin, Top Suzara, Ebe Dancel, Gary Granada, Trina Belamide, Chito Miranda, Yael Yuzon, Rico Blanco, Joey Ayala, Noel Cabangon, Jungee Marcelo, Jimmy Antiporda, Debbie Gaite, Angeli Valenciano, Gary Valenciano, and Quark Henares.
