Ely Buendia has a new band and its name is Pupil. I was able to catch them play for the first time at Kiko Machine’s Bar Tour at 6 Underground. The remaining members of the pencil-brand-inspired band decided to form a new band after they disbanded last May 2005. Pupil consists of Bogs Jugo, Dok Sergio, Ely Buendia, and Yan Yuzon (starred in Sponge Cola’s Gemini music video). Pupil holds a regular monthly production dubbed as Livestock which is held every last Saturday of the month. They either play at Saguijo or at Gweilo’s Eastwood. In their monthly production they usually play with bands like Sponge Cola, Kiko Machine, Menaya, Tawo, Sleepyheads and more. Check out Pupil’s Official Website for more information on the band.

Ely is still in his best with the original Eraserheads. Individually Mongols were better, pero wala ‘yung chemistry.

I thought Ely was still singing for the local band “Mongols”. Iba na pala.

Ely still haven’t got over Eraserheads. and it’s obvious with his new bands: The Mongols (Pencil) and Pupil (Students). Ah, yes, Ely is still king (notice the way he raises his guitar after a “Bulakbol” song before? Seems like he’s stating that “ako pa rin ang champion, Rayms.” hehe.

nakz naman…ayos ung name ng band ngaun ni ely buendia. PUPIL… nung una naririnig ko lang pero there was a tym na pagtingin ko sa tv nakita ko si ely… sabi ko, ASTIG! kala ko mawawala ng tuluyan si ely sa music scene.. in fact nalungkot ako nung nag-quit xa sa e-heads…yung tito ko kasi my band din sila and favorite nilang i-play yung mga songa ng e-heads..so ako naman naimpluwensyahan pero i admit iba talaga ang dating kapag si ely ang kumakanta.ngayon nakwento saken ng tito ko na nakachat daw ni k’jhep(bass guitarist sa band ng tito ko) si ely.dahil ata pareho sila ng motto “to live is to die” sabi ko WOW!…sana ako din!ah…medyo mahaba na eh!to end this message… goodluck sa new band mo IDOL… kaya mo yan… sana mabisita niyo school ko…nhs! this coming year 2006…everybody were talking about ‘pupil’ meet mo mga pupil ng NOVALICHES HIGH SCHOOL..hehehe!keep up the good work…. wala ka na…wala ka na pala…wala ka na…ah… mahahanap din kita…mahahanap din kita!geh idol merry xmas eat ka ng FRUITCAKE..hehehe

Eraserheads is still the best.no matter what band u form.the original is still the best.look at marcus,raymund and buddy.they form their own bands but still they DON’T get what the masses want.
admit it or not.Eraserheads broke up bcoz of their EGOS.
u bet? any bands u form its not gonna be successful as it was when ur in Eraserheads.

Yup! Ely does not have the best voice in town but he definitely knows how to write songs that connects with the hearts of the youth. The melody of his compositions are singable. Ibig sabihin madaling kantahin. Bad trip ako sa cueshe. Trying hard. Tapos ang hale ang taas ng nota hindi ko masabayan. Ang e-heads ang sarap kantahin. Ang southborders pare pareho ang tunog. Di tulad ng e-heads iba-iba-rock, reggae, pop, rock, metal, hard metal, ballad, love song.lahat na. Basta kakaiba talaga ang kanta.
At saka mayroong signature si Ely sa bawat composition nya. Alam mong pinoy talaga. Talino mo Ely!

the best naman talaga ang eheads e. ever. but i think one of the reasons they’ve become a legend is because they quit at the top of their game. although it still remains unclear why they disbanded, i think they have fully lived their life cycle as a band. kumbaga, na-attain na nila as a band ang dapat nila ma-attain. tama si ely nung sinabi nya na kung buhay pa ang eheads ngayon, baka laos na laos na sila. we’ll always be nostalgic about it but i’m sure if they kept on churning out hits na parehang tema ng “ligaya” o “pare ko” atbp., (like we keep asking them up to now) i’m sure magsasawa din tayo sa tunog nila. i’m happy the guys have moved on and pursued their own interests. in the long run, pabor ito sa local music industry because it directly benefits from such great individual talents.
by the way, pupil rocks.

This is my first visit in this site and it’s REALLY amazing to know that there are LOTS of people who have the same nostalgic feeling about eheads..just like me! Hearing ehead’s music is like going back in time when life is so simple, there’s no pressure from the real world, school is fun..damn, dont even wanna think of it! I miss them..i miss eheads..probably as badly as you guys do. (sighh…)
By the way, I was browsing the UP Fair’s sched for this year when I saw Pupil’s name on the list.

Ayokong mabuo ulit ang e-heads. Oo, die-hard fan nila ako hanggang ngayon pero nagpapasalamat ako sa kanila dahil tinigilan na nila. Nakahon na kasi sila ng fans at managers and labels. Di na sila maka-”grow”. Ngayon, malaya na sila, kanya-kanyang style, I LOVE IT!!! I bought a copy (original shempre) ng Beautiful Machines… it’s the music I’ve been looking for. Mature, walang halong pa-cute, napaka-honest! So refreshing! As always… excellent work, Ely! Congrats to all the band members!

hmmm. pupil huh? I first watched them nung tumugtog sila sa Padi’s sa Cavite. THEY ROCK!!! Pero you still got the feeling of nostalgia and stuff like: Where’s the same E-head twang? Yah I agree they sound better technically and yung music nila mas matured.
Ei i think E-heads is a thing of the past and we should now gear up for pupil. Eventhough a last concert for the pencil’s would be great….

ang galing ng ‘beautiful machines’! pupil definitely sounds like no other band in the local music scene today. and that’s what i’ve always admired about ely buendia, now joined by like-minded and equally talented individuals yan, dok and bogs. he always, always, dishes out music that is original and DISTINCT. yun ang kelangan natin, di yung puro covers, puro remakes, puro standard rock ballads na pare-pareho na ang tunog. and fortunately, aside from pupil, there are other OPM bands/artists who are living up to the challenge. OPM astig!

Please naman, tama na yang Eheads na yan! Kung talagang fans kayo ni Ely, hayaan nyo siyang mag-explore ng mga bagong horizons sa pagsulat ng kanta at paggawa ng musika! Alam nyo ba kung ga’no kahirap ang makulong o makahon sa isang identity dahil lamang FIXATED ang mga tao sa identity na yun? Kawawa naman si Ely, hindi maka-move on at kinakanta pa rin ang “Alapaap” sa mga gigs dahil sa mga fans na katulad nyo na hindi na umunlad sa pakikinig ng musika!
I’m not saying that you people should like Pupil. I’m just saying stop the Ely and Eheads flashbacks, wala namang patutunguhan yan eh.
Kung ayaw nyo sa Pupil, edi makinig kayo sa iba. Makinig kayo ng Cueshe o ng Orange and Lemons (biglang nagsuka…).

Hello. Ewan ko kung paano ako napadpad sa site na ito.. Pero idol ko rin si Ely nung kindergarten days ko pa.. mga 3 years old pa lang ako araw araw kong kinakanta yung “Ang Huling El Bimbo” tapos my sister used to teach me the dance.. So until now, 10 years na ang nakalipas.. I still love the Eheads kasi sila yung nagturo sakin na kumanta. I want them to reunite. But I am very much happy and satisfied sa mga ginagawa nila sa mga bago nilang banda. Let’s just be thankful na even though a lot have come and go, nandyan pa rin ang totoong magagaling, magkawatak watak man, still there to bring good music. And sa Pupil, they’re the most diverse band I’ve seen and I really really love them! I hope they win sa SOP Pasiklaband, they really deserve it. You know, all the hard work that Ely and the rest of the band did, there’s no harm in appreciating naman right?
Nobody (or nothing) can bring a true artist down. Ely is living proof.

Ely’s old now-erased band has been one of the reason why i gotten into rock music, pero nung KINDERGARTEN palang ako nun. history na yun mga people, FACE IT! nagbreakup ang Eheads?? edi walang problema! ang maiiwan parin at the end of the day ay ang TORCH-BEARER ng band na yun in the first place. kaya (TO ALL EHEADS FANS) WAG kayong ma-despair kung nagkawatak man sila AT LEAST alive at kicking at continue parin na gumagawa ng isa sa mga magagaling at ORIGINAL na music sa pinas. mahirap ang ma-stick sa isang stereotypical na genre ang isang band mahirap ang pressure, kaya kaylangan talaga nilang mag-evolve at mag-respetuhan sa isa’t-isa upang mag-carry on ang buhay nila sa scene. we just can’t stay the same, we need to change and grow to enjoy what we are doing. ganun din sa mga fans kung talagang die-hard kayo WAG nyong tignan sa name or line-up ng band perspective, tignan nyo sa productivity at CREATIVITY ng isang artist. boon yun sa bagong moved on, charged up, stereo-breaker band ni ely na P U P I L; the most underrated and diverse rock band in the lids of pinas. astig talaga si ELLY (i would like to name him like that coz he’s the hero!!!m/) kasi napanatilihan nya na MABUHAY parin sa music scene at na-manage nya na mag-evolve and napanatilihan nilang maging creatively MATURE, at the same time, YOUNG (not stupidly) and ruling ang approach sa music nila. pinurchase ko ung original ng BEATIFUL MACHINES, at im blown away unexpectedly which for me took Elly into his KING status. sana final na PUPIL rules!!!m/

astig tlaga ang pupil… napanood ko sla sa baguio last May… master parin c ely….
kaya pag uwi sa palawan… sakto feast day ng kagubatan nmn ngahahanap ng banda ung mayor na nmn sa puerto princesa ng bandana pwdeng e guest so i suggest pupil…. kaya un nakausap ko tlga personnal c ely buendia…. hehehehe..
