I don’t know what Mayor Pangandaman thought of when this horrible thing happened. All I know is that he already stained his reputation because of his anger seemed took control of him.

But never, in my wildest dreams, did I ever imagine that someone would pull out a punch. Apparently not. He attacks my father. His flightmates, maybe 2 or 3 of them, rush to his aid and beat up my father. My 56-year-old father. My younger brother and I could not just watch. We rushed to break the fight. My younger brother pleads to the mayor to please stop it. To not hurt my dad. To just stop. His words still ring through my head…”Sorry na po, sorry na po…tama na…tama na po…” With his hands in front of his chest in a praying position. PLEADING. The mayor socks him in the face. My brother defended himself. My dad is still on the ground getting clobbered. My brother is the same way. I try to stop the fight, but all I can do is stop one person. There were 4 or 5 of them attacking now.

The Mayor’s father is the Secretary of Agrarian Reform who’s a government peace negotiator. I find it a bit odd that he just watched everything happened as told by Bambee:

I am pretty sure the Secretary of DAR did not take part in the fight, but he just watched all this happen. He watched two of his sons, as we figured out, the other guy was his son, too, beat up my father and my 14-year-old brother. He didn’t do anything to stop it. And this person is what now? A cabinet member. A politician.

The mayor even told his caddy as shared by Bambee in her blog post:

Hindi nila kami kilala! Sabihin mo nga sa kanila kung sino ako!

Wow. He said it. It just tells us that just because he has a position in the government that he thinks that he will get away with it. I do hope that justice will be truly served. I also do hope that Bino (even if I don’t know him and his family personally) will get better soon.

It sucks even more that besides the possibility of the De La Paz family getting the short end of the stick by (1) the authorities being bribed, (2) the family getting intimidated and/or threatened with violence/death, (3) the entire thing slipping through the cracks after the initial news pickup…

… they’re getting sued by the guys who nearly beat their faces off and into a bloody pulp. Lovely world we live in, innit?

It’d be grand if this would make it to the front page of digg. That’d help.

What would be the government’s response to this horrible event? I will be very interested to know because if politicians like the Pangandamans could go around beating hapless kids and civilians because of petty golf reasons, then the Philippines is only fit for thugs like that lady goon in Malacanang who installed the senior Pangandaman in office.

The Philippines is a mess with a self-appointed president who failed miserably in her duties and instead concentrated on robbing the poor Filipino.

I have spoken my own thoughts about this issue in my own blog, but I will post a few choice selections here.

I believe that fighting broke out at the Valley Golf Club among the Pangandaman group and the Dela Paz group. I also believe that weapons were brought into the fray, and that blood was spilled. But I do not believe that we are hearing the whole truth about this incident.

Because of the backlash that was generated by the Bambee dela Paz blog, the Pangandamans are hard put to defend themselves against a tidal wave of animosity and disgust from all sides. But the pieces of the puzzle are not yet complete, and we must realize that there are always two sides to every story. We are quick to complain and condemn, even before seeing the whole picture.

Oftentimes, we find it easier to believe the words of a pretty lass rather than the protestations of adult men. In this particular case, we must choose between believing the accusations of a girl student athlete or the denials of a politician and a government official. Who do you think will be more believable?

In an effort to present a more accurate view (perhaps) of what really transpired during that fateful day at the Valley Golf Club, I have created a page in my blog which aims to share some information I have gathered from a separate website. I ask you to read the transcript carefully, and then to make your own conclusions regarding this issue.
