Minutes ago, I just read Sarah Cada’s plurk about the death of Francis Magalona. Someone posted the link to GMA.TV’s story about it confirming that Francis M. has indeed died from cancer at the age of 44. The news was confirmed by Vic Sotto in Eat Bulaga which I missed by the way since my brother on sick leave was having a phone conversation in our living room.
Back in the 90’s I would listen to Francis Magalona’s “Mga Kababayan”, “Kaleidoscope World”, “Meron Akong Ano”, “Cold Summer Nights”, “Three Stars and a Sun”, “Girl be Mine”, “Baw waw waw” and more. Francis Magalona also did a collaboration with the Eraserheads back then for the song “Superproxy” where I was able to see Ely Buendia and Francis Magalona performed it months ago on Eat Bulaga with Pupil (Ely Buendia’s present band).
Today is a sad day.
It is a sad day not just for the family, friends and fans of Francis Magalona. It is a sad day today for we lost a great and talented musician, actor and photographer. And to think that this happened before the Eraserheads Live: The Final Set concert which is scheduled tomorrow at SM Mall of Asia’s concert grounds. Ely Buendia is close to Francis Magalona and I’m sure his saddened by this. Also, remember that a few days before the Eraserheads Reunion Concert held last year, Ely Buendia’s mother died.
Greyweed shared that they’re doing a Francis Magalona memorial sound trip in their office. I did the same. Rest in Peace Francis Magalona. You and your songs will never be forgotten.

yes, one great person has finally rested, and has now joined our great Savior. It is a sorrowful day for all the fans of Kiko, but in my opinion, with his past endurance to all the treatments and pain that he had received, i believe he had served his purpose already. May He Rest in Peace…
