Remember when an oil tanker named “Vector” and a passenger ship named “MV Dona Paz” collided several years ago? That is what Asia’s Titanic is all about. It was directed by Yam Laranas and this is the first locally-produced documentary for National Geographic. (more…)

Recording Eraserheads Final Set as Played on TV
6 Comments Filed under Geeky stuff, Sound Trip, Watch
The setup was pretty simple. I used my iPhone with the Griffin iTalk app (quality was set to Best, file format produced is AIFF). No cable was attached to the TV and to the recording device (iPhone). I know this is an amateur bootleg but I’d like to check the results. I enhanced the volume of the audio by amplifying it using Audacity (result is an mp3 file 256kbps). I also added Fade in and Fade out but not on this audio sample (see the audio player below).
Good thing it was quiet in the sofa, plus, the dog was not barking. Good thing he was cooperative. LOL. I had to turn off the electric fan so that its sound won’t be recorded as well. Yep. Sacrifices.
Anyway, I was kinda disappointed with the quality of audio that went with the video shown.
Here’s a sample of the result. I’d like to show more samples but the upload speed right now is so slow.

By the way, I saw myself too on the concert. LOL. Just my eyes, nose and my camera. It is because the bouncer was blocking me. Argh.
FrancisM Film Fest on April 3

UPDATE! as of 4/1/2009: Event is said to be postponed as per Gang Badoy of RockEd. Pia Magalona prefers to have this done after Francism’s 40 days.
On the evening of April 3 in Cubao X, is The Great FrancisM Film Fest! Films, music videos, interviews, VJ guestings, out takes, raw footage, hosting stints, photos, etc. of Francis Magalona will loop throughout the night. The film fest is also like an “open mic night” but not really since everyone can participate by bringing stuff that celebrates FrancisM. You could bring flash drives, iPod videos, DVDs, CDs containing audio or visual stuff (videos or photos). This is certainly an interesting way of paying tribute to the Man from Manila.
This is brought you by Mogwai and Rock Ed Philippines.

The Violator Copy Experience

We watched a series of short films by Marcus Adoro (Markus Highway front man and Eraserheads’ lead guitarist) at Robinson’s Galleria’s Indie Sine. We were actually surprised to see Marcus Adoro there. The first film is “The Artist is In”. It does not have much dialogues (which only happened during the last few seconds of the film). The gestures of Darryl Shy made me understood that he was having writer’s block.
