A New Theme at Last
Filed under Geeky stuff, Personal Randomness
Finally, I just made myself a theme from scratch
and have recovered from the headache caused by some typographical error in my CSS code. The theme that I have created has a table-less layout. I’ve tested it in both Firefox and Internet Explorer 6 and it works pretty good in both browsers. I’ve added new plugins like the Flickr RSS plugin, the Show Top Commentators plugin and the Get Recent Comments plugin. I’ve also made some changes with how my Bidvertiser ads show. It seems that it has been the cause of why my page takes too long to load as what Fendi have commented.
I was even thinking of making it widgets-ready so that I could have others download the template and easily customize it. I guess I’ll just make a two-column, widgets-ready theme in the future.
Any comments on my new theme?

Well, I like it. It’s clean-looking, nice selection of colours (minimal) and definitely much faster now. Yes, I do agree with Fendi… it used to load a bit slow before. Plus, good integration of your ad $$$ stuff (which can sometimes be really intrusive-in-your-face on other blogs).
The footer area is nice too - populated with the necessary shizzle (top gabbers, recent comments, Flickr, MyBlogLog) without overdosing on gizmo-crack (unlike moi, who obviously doesn’t know how to practice restraint on plugin-sidebar-heroin, HAHAHA).
Mmmm, mmm, good and tasty with a side of fries.

I’m glad you liked it
yeah I really do not want to put something that is unnecessary.
you should practice some restraint on the sidebar thing
it’s just a little bit of coding

I like your theme actually. When are you going to make it available for public consumption? Hehe

Hi Tess
I’ll make a two-column theme with a footer like this in my blog
I’ll go experiment with different color schemes and make it available for public consumption

Looks clean. One minor nag: the comments fall off the container with the white background. *shrugs* (Haven’t looked at the source, but a quick adjustment in the div placement, perhaps?)
Also, I don’t know if it’s just my quirky browser (FF, in single window mode) but whenever I click on continue reading, it opens up a new tab.
Great theme, though.

Hi Ian,
The comments fall off the container?
I’m using Firefox and it works fine with it. As well as in IE.
Maybe your settings in Firefox is to open the link in a new tab
thanks

Got it. Heh. My proxy’s cutting off some pages, which aren’t downloading completely. Must be the Flickr photos at the footer.
