Because Sun Cellular has created a demand of buying an extra phone, I have recently joined the bandwagon of people that may be reached through two different telecommunications network. The other one I’m referring to is Globe Telecoms. I have just experienced the tragedy of owning a Sun Cellular sim and that is the time when I did not have any signal for almost an hour at Greenbelt area last Saturday. Another experience dates back to when I was at home and I didn’t have any signal for the whole night.
I looked for a cheap phone that has the functions that I need. Thus, I got a Motorola C117 for an amazing price of 2,100 bucks. It’s easy to use. You can use it without even reading the manual. And, it has caller ID. Hehe!
Lately, I’ve been hearing this song daily without even trying to hear it. It just so happened that it was being played in the radio and I do not even own a copy of their album and do not even have an MP3 of it here in my computer. And the line “Umuwi ka na baby” plays in my head continuously such that the particular part of the song is the only one in loop mode after hearing it.
Hanggang Kailan is a sad love song. It has the objective of making you cry. And the line Umuwi ka na baby does not actually mean “Go home freak, I’ve been waiting for you all night”. Instead, it’s a metaphor that says “Let’s get back together.” It’s about being paranoid and being shot in Luneta (as what have most people said, “Binabaril na ang mga martyr sa Luneta”) at the same time. It’s also about being patient and impatient which is a complete oxymoron like the lines “Labis na naiinip” and “Umuwi ka na baby” have put it.

The Fab Four has always been associated to the Brit-band The Beatles. Not only that, among Filipinos, in this era of talent search for which is not really a matter of talent search but a contest of sorts that would search for people with star quality (which means giving priority on audience impact), hence, the emergence of The Fab Four of Star Circle Quest’s Sandara, Hero, Roxanne and Joross. But, we also have the Fab Four in the Superhero World. This time, they are not called as The Fab Four but they are known as the Fantastic Four which came from the creator of Spider-Man, Stan Lee. Indeed, it has become a trend in Hollywood movies in turning comic books to movies, novels to movies, video games to movies and true-to-life movies. Comic book heroes, Fantastic Four, has joined the bandwagon like Superman, Spider-Man, Batman, X-Men, Elektra, and others that I haven’t mentioned.
Just like X-Men and Spider-Man, Fantastic Four had a DNA mutation which turned them into Mr. Fantastic (the ultimate stretching guy), Invisible Girl (the unbeatable champion in the game of hide and seek), The Human Torch (supernova chickboy flaming in 4000 Kelvin) and The Thing (also known as Pebbles as The Human Torch have put it). Having watched the cartoon series of Fantastic Four in my childhood days, I can easily predict on who’s who will save this and that. In short, it’s a very predictable film. Even though it’s predictable, I enjoyed the special effects in this film especially every time Mr. Fantastic stretches his hand because I don’t know if I’ll be amazed by that or if I’ll just simply throw up. It also has come to my attention in the scene where The Human Torch kissed the nurse and she didn’t feel that it’s hot. That was 200 degrees and it is an abnormal body temperature. Oh well, so much for the spoilers.
I suggest that they should make a promo on Where’s Stan Lee on the next Stan Lee creation that they’ll be filming. Like in other Stan Lee creations that has been turned into movies, Stan Lee has never failed to make an appearance in any of those films. If you didn’t see him, just wait for the credits and wait for his name there.

As the 19,190th petitioner that signed up as of July 8, 2005, I invite everyone of you to sign the petition at theGMA Resign Now website. Her statement that she indeed called up Garcillano is already enough reason for her to step down. It’s very unethical for an electoral candidate to call a COMELEC commissioner. What she did has earned her distrust from the public. As what we have experienced before, impeachment procedures would take a considerable amount of time. Thus, impeachment is not an option. She should resign now and even though her successor, VP Noli de Castro, is also part of the administration and does not have much experience, we would have no other option but just to follow what the Philippine Constitution says. If Noli will become the President, let’s just give him a fair chance.
Another DLSU alumnus has made it to the 2005 Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines. Beauregard Grant Cheng’s name can be seen in the halls of DLSU even before getting the TOSP. He has always depicted the real epitome of a Christian Achiever for God and Country. He was one of my classmates in college and I can vividly recall how he would sleep through at some of our classes and still managed to be on the top. Congratulations Grant and we’re very proud of you!

Way back in High School, I played in the basketball-for-girls sophomore team. I was neither the one who led the team to victory nor the one who has been generating fouls or whatsoever. In fact, I’ve made only one field goal. A historical field goal that was vividly remembered by my former teammate and my high school friend Chedar.(thanks for reminding me) who assisted me to the only shot that I made and that goes for all of the games that we played. I can vividly recall that moment when she passed to me the ball seeing that no one was guarding me. Maybe it’s because that I was not wearing a basketball shoes known by the names of Nike, and or Adidas or maybe it’s just that they’d never thought that I would be able to shoot that ball. I just wore my trusty old sneakers that goes by the brand name of Sketcher’s. I just froze for a split second after the ball was passed to me and then, I took the shot. That was the first game that we played and the first shot that I made. And that was the only game that we won. (more…)
Music lovers and guitar lovers unite for three nights at Eastwood City. Enjoy the music of ten bands for each of the three nights from July 15 up to July 17. The festival is absolutely for free. This event is organized by PARI (Philippine Association of the Record Industry).
However, it would be a more authentic guitar fest if they have purely instrumental performances from the best guitarists of the Philippines. They should have also included some local progressive rock bands and more bands playing blues. (more…)
Our cold creek manor is not located in a nearby creek or anything that would resemble as a jungle or a forest. Instead, it’s right in the heart of Paranaque where water supply has always been a major problem and application of telephone lines would be processed after 48 years. Also, snakes and other pests are considered to be a usual view that we could already put up an Exotic restaurant here where specialties include dishes that include snakes, rats, and centipedes. Life in the cold creek manor has always been a jungle. Being able to live in this cold creek manor should make you pass the ultimate survivor test. Just imagine this, cockroaches climbing up the wall just because a snake that is as long as your arms stretched sideways. Let me also include, rats scrambling on your rooftop because snakes are chasing them. Isn’t that neat? You do not have to go to Manila Zoo or watch the Animal Planet just to see one. You could just see them right in front of your doorsteps or better yet, in your bathroom just right before you take a bath. At summertime, the cold creek manor is at it’s most peaceful phase where they’re just spending time underground and what makes them continue breathing are the burrowed holes just like what I’ve saw in the mountains everytime we go to Laguna. Living in the cold creek manor… Priceless!
